Welcome to my blog. I have always wanted to write a blog but felt I had nothing to write about. Wrong. I am remodeling my kitchen and today is Day 1. For a brief history, Steve Hall and I bought this house in WBL in 1992, two year after we met. We didn’t do anything structurally to the house in 2o years. Don’t get me wrong…we did plenty to the property and I felt it was pretty darn nice! So did our family and friends. I love this house! It has many memories and it’s the only house that I have owned.
Things changed in 2011 when Steve left all of us. So, for three years, I have been trying to keep it together and just maintain. My job is all consuming and my family takes a priority. It’s been a journey to say the least….a good one so far.
So, I decided on the advice of my nephew and godson, Bryan Walters, to remodel my kitchen. He is in the business and came over one day and planted the seed. Too bad he is so busy that he could not commit to the project. He has been quite the mentor, designer, and educator, however.
So, Day 1 is here….
Brent Gallivan and Jeremy (from Gallivan Construction Co,) started the job bright and early. They came, prepped, analyzed, and destructed my kitchen according to plan for Day 1. I now have no sink, stove, or cupboards. The fridge and microwave are in the living room. So is the trashcan. My dear friend and roommate, Marilyn, helped to move the entire kitchen content to the 3-season porch. My, did I really use all this stuff? Maybe I just stored all of it!
Jeremy is full of it! He thought he could make me believe the project would last 6 months. YIKES! I know better, I hope.
